İngilizce Masal Ne Demek?
İngilizce masallar, çocuklara yönelik İngilizce dilinde yazılmış olan, onları eğlendirirken aynı zamanda düşündüren ve eğiten kurgu hikayelere verilen isimdir. “Masal” kelimesi, İngilizceye “fairy tale’’ olarak çevrilir.

HANSEL AND GRETEL
Once upon a time, in a small village next to a dark, mysterious forest, lived two siblings named Hansel and Gretel. They were kind and loved each other very much. But their family was having hard times, and there wasn’t enough food to eat.
One day, their stepmother planned to leave Hansel and Gretel deep in the forest so they couldn’t find their way back. The children overheard her plan and felt scared.
That night, when the full moon lit up the forest, Hansel and Gretel decided to leave a trail of breadcrumbs to find their way home. They didn’t know the forest was magical, and the creatures there wanted to help them.
As they walked through the forest, the moonlight showed them a hidden path leading to a house made of candy and sweets. The children couldn’t believe their eyes! They carefully approached the candy house, and as they took a bite of the delicious candy roof, they heard a gentle voice.
“Welcome, young travelers. I am the Fairy of the Forest,” said the voice.
Startled, Hansel and Gretel looked around and saw a beautiful fairy hovering in the air. She explained that the forest was magical and there to protect them. The candy house was her gift to them.
“You are kind-hearted and brave,” the Fairy said. “You will always be safe in this magical forest.”
Hansel and Gretel thanked the Fairy for her kindness and told her about their mean stepmother’s plan.
“Don’t worry,” the Fairy said, “I will guide you back home and keep you safe.”
Following the Fairy’s guidance, Hansel and Gretel found their way back to their village. The magical forest not only kept them safe but also gave them a bag filled with food and special seeds.
With the seeds, the siblings turned their empty garden into a beautiful one. They shared the food with their neighbors, and soon, the whole village was doing well.
People from all around heard about the magical forest and visited Hansel and Gretel’s special garden. The Fairy of the Forest became their guardian, blessing them with plenty of food and happiness.
Hansel and Gretel’s stepmother saw how good they were and the beauty of the garden. She felt sorry for her actions and asked for forgiveness, and the family was reunited with love and understanding.
TÜRKÇE: HANSEL İLE GRETEL
Bir zamanlar, karanlık ve gizemli bir ormanın yanındaki küçük bir köyde Hansel ve Gretel adında iki kardeş yaşarmış. Çok naziktiler ve birbirlerini çok severlermiş. Ancak aileleri zor zamanlar geçiriyormuş ve yiyecek yeterli yemekleri yokmuş.
Bir gün, üvey anneleri Hansel ve Gretel’i geri dönüş yolunu bulamasınlar diye ormanın derinliklerine bırakmayı planlamış. Çocuklar onun planını duymuşlar ve korkmuşlar. O gece, dolunay ormanı aydınlattığında, Hansel ve Gretel eve dönüş yolunu bulabilmek için bir ekmek kırıntısı izi bırakmaya karar vermişler. Peri, “Siz iyi kalpli ve cesursunuz,” demiş. “Bu büyülü ormanda her zaman güvende olacaksınız.”
Hansel ve Gretel, nezaketi için Periye teşekkür ettiler ve ona kötü kalpli üvey annelerinin planını anlatmışlar.
Peri, “Endişelenmeyin,” demiş, “Sizi evinize geri götüreceğim ve güvende tutacağım.”

THE FROG PRINCE
There was a king who had beautiful daughters. The youngest daughter used to play near a deep pond. One day, her golden ball fell into the pond. It was deep, and a frog told her that her tears could melt stones. He asked the princess to keep him if he returned the ball. She promised. The frog found the ball and gave it to the princess, but she didn’t keep her promise.
The frog showed up at her door and asked her to keep the promise. When the king came to know about it, he ordered her daughter to keep the promise. She forcefully agreed and kept him. The next day, the frog said to the princesses that he would leave forever if she kissed him. To get rid of him, she kissed him, and soon he turned into a handsome prince. Unfortunately, he had been suffering a curse that could only be broken with a princess’s kiss.
TÜRKÇE: KURBAĞA PRENS
Güzel kızları olan bir kral varmış. En küçük kızı derin bir göletin yakınında oyun oynarmış. Bir gün, altın topu gölete düşmüş. Gölet derindi ve bir kurbağa ona gözyaşlarının taşları bile eritebileceğini söylemiş. Prensesten, eğer topu geri getirirse onu yanında tutmasını istemiş.
Prenses söz vermiş. Kurbağa topu bulup prensese verdi ama o sözünü tutmamış. Kurbağa kapısında belirmiş ve ondan sözünü tutmasını istemiş. Kral durumu öğrendiğinde, kızına sözünü tutmasını emretmiş. Kız mecburen kabul etmiş ve onu yanında tutmuş.
Ertesi gün kurbağa, prensese eğer kendisini öperse sonsuza dek gideceğini söylemiş. Ondan kurtulmak için onu öpmüş ve o anda kurbağa yakışıklı bir prense dönüşmüş. Ne yazık ki, sadece bir prensesin öpücüğüyle bozulabilecek bir lanetin acısını çekiyormuş.
THE GOOSE THAT LAID ON THE GOLDEN EGG
Once upon a time, there was a farmer who possess the most wonderful goose you can ever imagine. Every day when the farmer visited the nest, the goose had laid a beautiful glittering golden egg. The farmer took the eggs to the market and soon begin to get rich.
The farmer was getting richer and richer every day he began to become impatient. He was upset at the goose because she was yielding him only one golden egg per day. He was not getting rich fast enough. Then, one day, after he had finished counting his money, he got an idea. He thought, “What if I kill the goose and get all the golden eggs all at once?
The next day, when he went to fetch the golden egg, he killed the goose. But he could not find any more golden eggs and precious goose was dead too.
TÜRKÇE: ALTIN YUMURTLAYAN KAZ
Bir zamanlar, hayal edebileceğiniz en harika kaza sahip olan bir çiftçi varmış. Çiftçi her gün yuvayı ziyaret ettiğinde, kazın ışıl ışıl parlayan güzel bir altın yumurta yumurtladığını görürmüş. Çiftçi yumurtaları pazara götürmüş ve kısa sürede zengin olmaya başlamış.

CINDERELLA
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a beautiful young girl named Cinderella. She lived with her wicked stepmother and two stepsisters, who treated her cruelly and made her do all the housework.
One day, a grand ball was announced at the palace, and all the eligible young women in the kingdom were invited. Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters prepared to go, but they forbade Cinderella from attending.
Heartbroken, Cinderella was left alone, but then her fairy godmother appeared. With a wave of her wand, she transformed a pumpkin into a carriage, mice into horses, and Cinderella’s rags into a beautiful gown.
She told Cinderella she could go to the ball, but she must leave before midnight, or the magic would wear off.
At the ball, Cinderella was the most beautiful woman there, and the prince fell instantly in love with her. They danced the night away, but as the clock struck midnight, Cinderella fled, leaving behind one of her glass slippers.
The prince, determined to find her, searched the kingdom, trying the slipper on every maiden. Finally, he arrived at Cinderella’s house, and the slipper fit her perfectly.
They were married, and Cinderella’s dreams came true. They lived happily ever after.
TÜRKÇE: SİNDİRELLA
Bir zamanlar, uzak bir ülkede, Külkedisi adında güzel bir genç kız yaşarmış. Kötü kalpli üvey annesi ve iki üvey kız kardeşiyle birlikte yaşıyormuş. Onlar ona kötü davranır ve tüm ev işlerini yaptırırlarmış.

Prens onu bulmaya kararlıymış, krallıkta her genç kıza ayakkabıyı denemiş. Sonunda Külkedisi’nin evine gelmiş ve ayakkabı ona tam uymuş.
Evlenmişler ve Külkedisi’nin hayalleri gerçekleşmiş. Sonsuza dek mutlu yaşamışlar.
PINOCCHIO
Once upon a time, there was a kind old man named Geppetto. He lived alone in a little workshop and made beautiful wooden toys. But more than anything, he wished for a child of his own.
One day, Geppetto carved a wooden puppet that looked just like a little boy.
“I’ll call you Pinocchio,” he said with a smile.
That night, he wished upon a star,
“Please let Pinocchio become a real boy.”
A kind fairy heard his wish. She flew into the workshop and waved her magic wand.
“Pinocchio,” she said, “you are alive now. If you are brave, kind, and tell the truth, one day you will become a real boy.”
When Geppetto woke up and saw Pinocchio moving and talking, he could hardly believe it!
“Papa! Look! I can walk!” Pinocchio cheered, wobbling on his wooden feet.
Geppetto laughed and hugged him tight.
The next day, Geppetto gave Pinocchio a lunch and sent him to school.
“Be good, listen to your teacher, and go straight there,” he reminded him.
But on the way, Pinocchio heard music and laughter. A boy called out,
“Hey, puppet! Come with us to the puppet show! It’s way more fun than school!”
Pinocchio was curious.
“Just for a little while,” he said.
He ran off with the boys and forgot all about school.
At the puppet show, the crowd cheered when Pinocchio danced. The puppet master gave him coins and said,
“You’re the star! Stay and perform every night!”
But Pinocchio missed Geppetto.
“I need to go home,” he said.
On his way back, a sly fox and a sneaky cat stopped him.
“Where are you going, little wooden boy?” asked the fox.
“Home to my papa,” Pinocchio said.
“Why not plant your coins in the magic field? They’ll grow into a tree full of gold!” the fox lied.
Pinocchio believed them and gave them his coins. But the fox and cat ran away laughing.
“Hey! Come back!” Pinocchio shouted.
He felt sad and foolish.
Suddenly, the blue fairy appeared.
“Pinocchio, what happened?” she asked.
Pinocchio was scared and told a lie.
“I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Right away, his wooden nose grew longer!
“Oh no!” he cried.
The fairy smiled kindly.
“Every time you lie, your nose will grow.”
Pinocchio promised to be honest from now on.
“I just want to go home to Papa,” he said.
But on the way, he got tricked again by naughty boys and ended up on Pleasure Island, where kids could do whatever they wanted. They ate candy, broke toys, and skipped school.
At first, it was fun. But then something strange happened. The boys started growing donkey ears and tails!
“What’s happening to us?!” Pinocchio shouted.
He ran away as fast as he could and jumped into the sea. Splash!
Deep under the water, he found something shocking—a huge whale! And inside the whale’s belly was…
“Papa?”
“Pinocchio!” Geppetto had been searching for him and got swallowed by the whale too!
“We have to get out of here!” Pinocchio said.
He had an idea. They tickled the whale’s tummy with a feather!
“Achoo!” The whale sneezed so hard that it blew them right out into the ocean!
They swam back to shore safely.
Back home, Pinocchio helped Geppetto around the house. He was kind, honest, and brave.
That night, the blue fairy came again.
“Pinocchio, you have proven yourself,” she said.
She touched him with her wand—and suddenly, he was no longer made of wood.
“I’m a real boy!” Pinocchio cried, hugging Geppetto.
They danced around the room, happy at last.
And from that day on, Pinocchio never lied again. He learned that the truth, love, and family are more magical than anything else.
TÜRKÇE: PİNOKYO
Bir zamanlar, Geppetto adında nazik, yaşlı bir adam varmış. Küçük bir atölyede yalnız yaşar ve güzel tahta oyuncaklar yaparmış. Ama her şeyden çok, kendi çocuğu olmasını dilermiş.

Ertesi gün, Geppetto Pinokyo’ya öğle yemeğini vermiş ve onu okula göndermiş. “Uslu dur, öğretmenini dinle ve doğruca okula git,” diye tembihlemiş. Ama yolda Pinokyo müzik ve kahkaha sesleri duymuş. Bir çocuk ona seslenmiş: “Hey, kukla! Bizimle kukla gösterisine gel! Okuldan çok daha eğlenceli!” Pinokyo meraklanmış. “Sadece kısa bir süreliğine,” demiş.
Çocuklarla birlikte kaçmış ve okulu tamamen unutmuş. Kukla gösterisinde Pinokyo dans ettiğinde kalabalık tezahürat yapmış. Kuklacı ona bozuk paralar vermiş ve şöyle demiş: “Sen bir yıldızsın! Kal ve her gece sahneye çık!” Ama Pinokyo Geppetto’yu özlemiş. “Eve gitmem gerek,” demiş.
Dönüş yolunda, kurnaz bir tilki ve sinsi bir kedi onu durdurmuş. “Nereye gidiyorsun küçük tahta çocuk?” diye sormuş tilki. “Babamın yanına, eve,” demiş Pinokyo. Tilki yalan söyleyerek, “Paralarını neden sihirli tarlaya ekmiyorsun? Altın dolu bir ağaca dönüşürler!” demiş. Pinokyo onlara inanmış ve paralarını vermiş. Ama tilki ve kedi gülerek kaçıp gitmişler. “Hey! Geri gelin!” diye bağırmış Pinokyo. Kendini üzgün ve aptal gibi hissetmiş. Aniden Mavi Peri belirmiş. “Pinokyo, ne oldu?” diye sormuş. Pinokyo korkmuş ve bir yalan söylemiş. “Ben yanlış bir şey yapmadım.”
Bunu der demez, tahta burnu uzamış. “Olamaz!” diye ağlamış.
Peri nazikçe gülümsemiş. “Ne zaman yalan söylersen, burnun uzayacak.” Pinokyo bundan sonra dürüst olacağına söz vermiş. “Sadece babamın yanına, eve gitmek istiyorum,” demiş. Ama yolda yine yaramaz çocuklar tarafından kandırılmış ve çocukların istedikleri her şeyi yapabildikleri Zevk Adası’na düşmüş. Şeker yemişler, oyuncakları kırmışlar ve okulu asmışlar. Başta her şey eğlenceliymiş. Ama sonra garip bir şey olmuş. Çocukların eşek kulakları ve kuyrukları çıkmaya başlamış “Bize neler oluyor?!” diye bağırmış Pinokyo. Olabildiğince hızlı koşmuş ve denize atlamış. Cumburlop!
Suyun derinliklerinde şok edici bir şey bulmuş; devasa bir balina. Ve balinanın karnının içinde… “Baba?” “Pinokyo!” Geppetto onu arıyormuş ve o da balina tarafından yutulmuş. “Buradan çıkmalıyız!” demiş Pinokyo. Aklına bir fikir gelmiş. Ve o günden sonra Pinokyo bir daha asla yalan söylememiş. Doğruluğun, sevginin ve ailenin her şeyden daha büyülü olduğunu öğrenmiş.
THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE
Once upon a time, there was a speedy hare who loved to boast about how fast he was. He would often make fun of the slow-moving tortoise.
One day, the tortoise got tired of the hare’s bragging and challenged him to a race. The hare, confident of winning, readily accepted.
The race began, and the hare quickly sprinted far ahead, leaving the tortoise behind.
Feeling overconfident, the hare decided to take a nap under a tree, thinking he had plenty of time to win.
Meanwhile, the tortoise kept going, slowly but steadily.
When the hare woke up, he was surprised to see the tortoise just a short distance from the finish line.
The hare sprinted with all his might, but it was too late. The tortoise crossed the finish line first, winning the race.
The moral of the story is that slow and steady wins the race.
TÜRKÇE: KAPLUMBAĞA İLE TAVŞAN
Bir zamanlar, hızına övünmeyi seven hızlı bir tavşan varmış. Yavaş hareket eden kaplumbağayla sık sık alay edermiş.
Bir gün, kaplumbağa tavşanın böbürlenmesinden bıkmış ve onu bir yarışa davet etmiş. Kazanacağından emin olan tavşan, hemen kabul etmiş.
Yarış başlamış ve tavşan hızla öne fırlamış, kaplumbağayı geride bırakmış.
Kendine fazla güvenen tavşan, kazanmak için bolca zamanı olduğunu düşünerek bir ağacın altında uyumaya karar vermiş.
Bu arada, kaplumbağa yavaş ama istikrarlı bir şekilde ilerlemeye devam etmiş.
Tavşan uyandığında, kaplumbağayı bitiş çizgisine çok az bir mesafe kala görünce şaşırmış.
Tavşan tüm gücüyle koşmuş ama çok geç kalmış. Kaplumbağa bitiş çizgisini ilk geçen olmuş ve yarışı kazanmış.
Hikayenin dersi, yavaş ve istikrarlı olmanın yarışı kazandırdığıdır.
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Once upon a time, there was a young girl who lived in a village near a forest. She was known for wearing a red hooded cloak, so everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood.
One day, her mother asked her to take a basket of food to her sick grandmother who lived in the forest.
As Little Red Riding Hood walked through the forest, she met a cunning wolf. The wolf tricked her into telling him where she was going.
Then, the wolf raced to the grandmother’s house, locked her in a closet, and pretended to be the grandmother.
When Little Red Riding Hood arrived, she noticed how strange her “grandmother” looked.
The wolf eventually ate her.
Luckily, a woodcutter came along, heard the snoring wolf, and cut him open, saving Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother.
TÜRKÇE: KIRMIZI BAŞLIKLI KIZ
Bir zamanlar, bir ormanın yakınındaki bir köyde yaşayan genç bir kız varmış. Kırmızı başlıklı bir pelerin giydiği için herkes ona Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız dermiş.
Bir gün annesi, ormanda yaşayan hasta büyükannesine bir sepet dolusu yiyecek götürmesini istemiş.
Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız ormanda yürürken, kurnaz bir kurtla karşılaşmış. Kurt, nereye gittiğini söylemesi için onu kandırmış.
Daha sonra kurt, büyükannenin evine koşmuş, onu bir dolaba kilitlemiş ve büyükannesi gibi davranmış.
Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız geldiğinde, “büyükannesinin” ne kadar garip göründüğünü fark etmiş.
Kurt sonunda onu yemiş.
Neyse ki, ormancı gelmiş, horlayan kurdu duymuş ve onu keserek Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız’ı ve büyükannesini kurtarmış.
THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER

Rapunzel would lower her long, golden hair, and the witch would climb up.
As the years passed, Rapunzel grew into a kind and gentle young woman. She was isolated from the world and had never seen another human besides the witch. Still, she filled her days with joy. She read books, painted pictures, and sang songs that echoed through the forest. Forest animals often visited her, and she named them all—Whiskers the rabbit, Feather the bluebird, and Fluffy the squirrel. They were her closest friends.
In a neighboring kingdom lived a brave and kind-hearted prince. He had heard whispers of a girl with magical golden hair locked away in a tower. Curious and hopeful, he set out to find her.
One day, while riding through the forest on his white horse, he heard a sweet, beautiful song floating through the trees. The voice pulled him closer and closer until he stood beneath Rapunzel’s tower.
Rapunzel had never seen a prince before. When she looked down and saw him, her heart fluttered with excitement. Her golden hair tumbled from the window like a shining rope. The prince was amazed—not only by her beauty, but by the warmth in her voice.
“Who are you?” he called.
“I’m Rapunzel,” she replied. “I’ve lived in this tower for as long as I can remember. Who are you, and why have you come here?”
The prince introduced himself and told her about the stories he had heard. Rapunzel felt both nervous and happy. Talking to someone new made her feel brave for the first time.
Day after day, the prince returned. They shared stories, laughed, and dreamed of the world beyond the tower. The prince loved Rapunzel’s kindness, her songs, and the hopeful way she spoke about life. Before long, they realized they cared deeply for one another.
Together, they made a plan to escape. Each visit, the prince brought a piece of silk, and Rapunzel carefully wove them into a ladder.
But one day, Rapunzel made a mistake. Without thinking, she said to the witch,
“Why are you so much heavier to pull up than the prince?”
The witch’s eyes flashed with anger. Furious and afraid of losing Rapunzel, she cut off Rapunzel’s long hair and sent her far away to live alone in the wild.
That evening, when the prince came to visit, the witch lowered Rapunzel’s cut hair from the tower. When he climbed up, he was shocked to see the witch instead of Rapunzel. Startled, he fell from the tower into a bed of sharp thorns. The thorns scratched his eyes, and he became blind.
Heartbroken, the prince wandered the land for years, calling Rapunzel’s name but never finding her.
One day, as he walked through a distant forest, he heard a familiar song. It was Rapunzel! She had survived on her own, never giving up hope. The prince followed the sound of her voice until they stood face to face once more.

One night, as the children were drifting off to sleep, a boy named Peter Pan and his tiny fairy friend, Tinker Bell, flew into their bedroom. Peter had come to get back his shadow, which he had accidentally left behind on a previous visit. Wendy helped Peter attach his shadow back on, and to thank her, Peter invited Wendy, John, and Michael to come with him to Neverland.
With a sprinkle of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust and a happy thought, the children flew out of the bedroom window and soared high above the rooftops of London, guided by Peter Pan. They traveled through the night sky, across oceans and mountains, until they finally reached the magical land of Neverland.
Neverland was a place of wonder and adventure, filled with magical forests, sparkling small lakes, and mysterious caves. The children met the Lost Boys, a group of children who, like Peter, never grew up. They also met mermaids, fairies, and even pirates. The scariest pirate of all was Captain Hook, who had a grudge against Peter Pan after losing his hand in a battle with him.
Peter Pan took Wendy, John, and Michael on exciting adventures, from exploring Mermaid Lagoon to visiting the Indian village and making friends with Princess Tiger Lily. They had endless fun, but they also had to be careful of Captain Hook and his band of pirates, who were always planning against Peter and his friends.
One day, Captain Hook captured Wendy, John, Michael, and the Lost Boys. He planned to make them walk the plank and feed them to the crocodile that had once bitten off his hand. But Peter Pan, with the help of Tinker Bell, came to their rescue just in time. An intense battle happened on the pirate ship, with Peter Pan and Captain Hook fighting bravely.
With a smart move, Peter Pan forced Captain Hook to fall overboard, where the ticking crocodile excitedly waited for him. Captain Hook swam away in fear, and the pirates, defeated and frightened, ran away from the ship.
With the pirates gone, Peter Pan and the children took control of the ship. Peter asked Tinker Bell to sprinkle the ship with pixie dust, and they all flew the ship back to London. Wendy, John, and Michael were happy to be home, but they knew they would always remember their adventures in Neverland.
